# Adding to a Reference Part Number

Once grouped you can assign the object to a part in the [**Material** **Master**](/v1/docs/working-with-the-material-master). This is useful as it allows a user to add the grouped item to a part number created in the **Material** **Master**. This means that all materials or parts used to create this grouped object will form one part and will be included in the **Bill of Materials.**

To do this

1. Create an entry for this part in the **Material** **Master**. See [**Adding a Part in the Material Master**](/v1/docs/adding-editing-duplicating-activatingdeactivating-and-removing-material) for more information on how to do this.

2. Click on the object and select **Building** **Objects**

3. Click the **Part** **Numbers** drop-down and find the correct part.

4. Click the checkbox to select the part and then click **OK**.

5. Click **OK** again in the **Building Objects** dialog.

This means that all materials or parts used to create this group item will be calculated in the **Bill of Materials****.**
