# Requesting a Modification

There are two ways to modify a scaffold. You can create a modification request or a scheduled modification. A modification request will go through the request process (like a scaffold request) and will be approved by an approver. Once approved, a scheduled modification activity will need to be created.

**Requesting a Modification on the Map Screen screen**

1. On the Map screen, select the scaffold and then select **Standing.**
2. Select **Modify**

3. Select **Create a New Request to Modify Scaffold** and click **OK** When modifying a scaffold, you will be given three options:
  1. **Create a new request to Modify Scaffold** - This opens the **Request** **Details** screen allowing the requestor to specify the changes that need to be made to the scaffold and creates this as a new request. This request can be viewed in the [**Request**](/v1/docs/working-with-requests-desktop) screen and the **Request** screen of the scaffold. Once approved, this will create a modification that can be used again by selecting the **Use an existing scheduled modification** option.
  2. **Create a new scheduled modification** - Create a scheduled modification without creating a new request. This will create a modification that can be used again by selecting the **Use an existing scheduled modification** option.

6. View Scaffolds on the Map screen, and select the Scaffold that's to be modified
7. Select **Standing**
8. Select **Modify**

11. Click **Modification in Progress**
12. Click **Complete Modification**
13. Click **OK**

**Requesting a Modification on the Scaffold Details screen**

2. Select the scaffold to modify and click **Details**

> **Note: You can also double-click the Scaffold**

4. Select **Create a New Request to Modify Scaffold** and click **OK.**

6. 9. Select **Use an Existing Scheduled Modification**
