This guide will explain how Scaffold Designer enables you to add a raking tie to a scaffold. In this guide we will use:

  • A standard Bay
  • A Brace Only Bay
  • A Ledger Only Bay

The guide will explain how to create all the above bays and put them all together, creating a raking tie.

Before we create a Raking tie, we need to drag in a standard bay. For more information please see the Adding a Bay guide.Scaffold tower.

Add a Scaffold Tower

To add a raking tie, you need a Scaffold tower.

To add a Scaffold tower:

1. Add a Bay to the Drawing Page.

2. As necessary, click the View tab and click Bay Level Editor.

The Bay Level Editor appears.

3. Click Add Level as many times as necessary.

Scaffold Designer adds the levels.

Add a Brace-Only Bay

The next step in adding a raking tie is to add a brace-only Bay. This involves creating a Bay, removing most of its components and adding braces.

To create a brace-only Bay:

1. Add a Bay next to the new Scaffold tower.

2. Click the new Bay (to select it), then click the Bay Details dropdown.

3. Click the Verticals tab, click the All checkbox in the Skip Vertical row

and click Close.

3. Click the Sides tab, click two appropriate Skip Side checkboxes (to put a check in them).

In this case, T and B are checked.

4.  Click the appropriate Brace Direction dropdown, select Backwards, then click Close

Note: For the two unchecked sides, the Brace Direction should be backwards for one side and forwards for the other.

5. As necessary, click the View tab and click Bay Level Editor.

6. Click the top Planked checkbox, to remove its check.

Next, add horizontal ties from the braces to the Bay.

To add a ledger-only Bay:

8. Click in the Base Node Elevation text field, enter the height at which you want the ledgers to connect to the Bay tower and click OK.

Put it all Together

The last step is to move the brace-only Bay and ledger-only Bay into place next to your Scaffold tower.

To put it all together:

1. Click the brace-only Bay and drag it to the side of the Bay tower, so that it glues to the Bay tower.

2. Click the ledger-only Bay and drag it to the side of the Bay tower, so that it sits on top
