We have some products that were cut down into smaller pieces. How do I update my inventory to show this change in stock?
ex. 3- 4 ft. wood boards were cut into 6- 2ft. wood boards
Answer:
You can manage this change in inventory with Quantify's Adjust Quantities feature. First, you should make sure the new product (size/part number) is already added in your Product Catalog. If not, refer to Adding Products for step by step instructions.
If the products were damaged at a job or yard, and are being cut down to usable lengths, you can use the Out of Service feature to record the damaged inventory. When products are moved or returned to the Out of Service queue, the available quantity at the stocking location will no longer include these items. You can then use Adjust Quantities to increase the new product's available quantity, once the inventory has been cut down. For more information about the Out of Service feature, refer to the Out of Service articles. For additional instructions, refer to Adjusting Quantities for a Selected Location.
Alternately, if the products have not been damaged or your company does not use the Out of Service feature, you can simply follow the steps to adjust quantities for a selected location, such as a Branch Office or Laydown Yard. During this process, you will reduce the available quantity of the original product and increase the available quantity of the new product. For additional instructions, refer to Adjusting Quantities for a Selected Location.
