Customizing the Drawing Page Size and/or Scale

You can customize the page size of a drawing to meet various standards and custom sizes.

Note: You can change the page size at any time, but Avontus Designer may move existing objects on the page (such as walls and bays) as a result.

  • The default page size for drawings in US units is: Letter: 8 1/2" x 11"

  • The default page size for drawings in Metric units is: A4: 297 mm. x 210 mm.

You can customize the scale of a drawing to change the size of objects on the drawing page relative to the page size.

  • The default scale for drawings in US units is: 1/8" = 1' 0"

  • The default scale for drawings in Metric units is: 1 : 100

Note: The scale displayed on imported plans or files may not match the actual scale. Tools such as PDF printers and printer scaling can cause the scale of a plan to be altered. If you attempt to match the scale of an imported file, you may need to use the custom scale to match the actual scale of the file.

Accessing the Page Setup Dialog

You customize the Drawing Page size and scale in the Page Setup dialog. So, to start the process, you must first launch the dialog.

To access the Page Setup dialog:

  1. Click the Home tab, then click Page Setup.
     
    The Page Setup dialog appears.
    If you want to customize the drawing page size, go to the next section.
    If you want to customize the drawing scale, click here.

Customizing the Drawing Page Size

Avontus Designer enables you to create a Drawing Page of any size, to suit any project.

To customize the Drawing Page size:

  1. Click the Page Size tab.
      

  2. Set up the page

    1. Click the appropriate Page Orientation radio button.  Your options are Portrait and Landscape.
        

    2. To assign a pre-defined size:

      1. Click the Pre-defined size radio button.
          

      2. Click the top dropdown and select the appropriate standard.
          

      3. Click the bottom dropdown and select the appropriate dimensions.
         
        Note: The pre-defined options depend on which units (m or ft) are used in the drawing.

    3. To assign a custom size:

      1. Click the Custom Size radio button.
          

      2. Click the left dimension text field and enter the height of the page.

      3. Click the right dimension text field and enter the width of the page.
         
        Note: The page size relates to the size of the Drawing Page as it appears in Avontus Designer and may vary from the printer paper size. 

  3. If you are done, click Apply or OK.
     

Customizing the Drawing Scale

Avontus Designer enables you to draw at any scale you need, to suit any project.

If you attempt to match the scale of an imported file, you may need to use the custom scale to match the actual scale of the file.

To change the scale of a drawing:

  1. Click the Drawing Scale tab.
      

  2. Set up the page

    1. To assign a page size:

      1. Click in the left Page Size text field and enter the height of the page.

      2. Click in the right Page Size text field and enter the width of the page.
          

    2. To assign no scale, click the No Scale radio button.
        

    3. To assign a pre-defined scale:

      1. Click the Pre-defined Scale radio button.
          

      2. Click the top dropdown and select the appropriate standard.
          

      3. Click the bottom dropdown and select the appropriate ratio.
         
        Note: The pre-defined options depend on which units (m or ft) are used in the drawing.

    4. To assign a custom scale:

      1. Click the Custom Scale radio button.
          

      2. Click the left dimension text field and enter the height of the page.

      3. Click the right dimension text field and enter the width of the page.
         

  3. Click Apply or OK.
     

Avontus Designer automatically calculates and displays the page size based on the scale you select.
