Custom Tie Spacing

The Formwork Ties tab in the Formwork Options dialog enables you to determine the default tie spacing. The settings you configure in this tab only apply to the current Handset Designer project. For a complete description of all items in the Formwork Ties tab, refer to Formwork Ties Tab.

WARNING! This software is intended for use by qualified formwork designers and competent persons as defined by OSHA. Use by unqualified persons may result in DEATH, SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. Loading determined by this software is based on the load-carrying capacity of panels, fillers, ties, and other hardware. The total loads on individual components as well as the loading of the formwork assembly must be considered. Bracing and platform design is to be performed by a competent person before proceeding with the work.

To configure custom tie spacing:

  1. Click the Handset Designer tab and click Formwork Options.
    The Formwork Options dialog appears, with the Drawing and Counting tab selected.
  2. Click the Formwork Ties tab.
    The Formwork Options dialog refreshes, displaying the means for configuring custom tie spacing.
    As necessary:
  3. Click the Allowable tie load dropdown and select the appropriate tie strength. Your options are: 2250 lbs and 3000 lbs.
  4. To have Handset Designer automatically place ties every vertical foot, click the Always place a tie every 1 ft. vertically radio button.
  5. To customize tie placement:
    1. Click the Allow me to customize the layout below radio button.
    2. Click the appropriate height in the For heights 8' and less area.
      The heights diagram in the For heights 8' and less and the For heights above 8' diagrams refresh, showing tie placement.
      If you click 6 ft. and 7 ft., the Form pressure text field refreshes, displaying 750 PSF.
      If you click 8 ft., the Form pressure text field refreshes, displaying 750 PSF and 600 PSF
      1. Click the appropriate pressure.
      2. As necessary, click the Use this Layout checkbox
  6. If you are done, click OK.
